    Sweden wins Ceska Pojistovna Cup

With one round left to play of the Ceska Pojistovna Cup, Sweden has already won the tournament, following up their 2-1 victory vs. Russia with a 5-3 win over the Czech Republic.

Sweden got of to a great start to the game when Johan Davidsson scored a power play goal at 3.55 with a shot that perhaps the Czech goalie should have saved. Jimmie Ölvestad extended the Swedish lead with his first goal for the Tre Kronnor. Ölvestad capitalized on a chaotic situation in front of the Czech net where the Swedes had several chances to score.

Jesper Mattsson made it 3-0 five minutes into the second period before Jaroslav Bednar scored the first goal for the home team in a only half full Tipsport arena in Liberec. At 15.11 Kristoffer Ottosson scored a short handed goal to extend the Swedish lead again, the goal was scored on breakaway neatly finished by Ottosson. The Czechs replied only 35 seconds later with a power play goal by Jan Marek.

Czech goaltender Salficky was replaced by Hnilicka in an effort to turn the game around but a bad change during a Czech power play gave Sweden a 2 on 1 and Joel Lundqvist (twin brother of NY Rangers goalie Henrik) made it 5-2 after on a pass from Johnny Oduya.

In the beginning of the third period Jiri Burger took advantage of a Swedish mistake to make the score 3-5, but the Czechs could not approach the Swedish lead. Sweden won the game and the tournament.

Tomorrow Sweden will play Finland while Czech Republic will play Russia.
